However I think those are isolated to the major border towns (Tijuana, Matamoros, etc). Mexicali is large but not as touristy as the others. Also if you stay away from the 'bad' areas all should be fine. I don't think we would go down there alone, there is strength in numbers, even if it is only 2. He has been hearing stories of rampant crimes against americans are on the rise down there... having been down there recently (we have not gone down since last year) with your Airstream do you feel there is a real problem right now?
