Alumafiesta 2014 Trip – Day 3 – The long haul

We made it to the KOA today where Alumafiesta is being held.  To add to the 680 miles we did in the previous days we added another 13 miles!  Yes we only had to go 13 miles today!  Now that is the kind of day that I like to do.  At that rate it would take us 231 days to go coast to coast.  I could live with that.

We came in a bit early for the workers here but they did a great job and gave use spot 1492 (easy to remember).  We dropped the trailer and started hooking up the utilities.  We saw a Suburban pull up behind our spot.  The man got out and started asking us questions about replacing flooring in their 2001 25′ Classic.  Ironically that is just what we did a while back in our old ’92.  This led to a thoroughly enjoyable chat with this couple.  They are from Rhode Island and come here to avoid the bad weather there.  They keep their trailer in storage in Phoenix.  They are debating replacing the flooring in their current trailer or purchasing a new one.  After seeing ours and talking about the options I think we just muddied their decision.

This brings up a different subject.  Any Airstreamer, or other RV’er for that matter, always enjoy to talk trailers and help out a fellow RV’er.  This couple was not attending Alumafiesta but drove through the KOA and found us.  I am very glad they did.

While opening the valve on the grey tank and as it started sprinkling I met a couple across our street.  They are here from Illinois and have had their trailer for 1 year.  Yet another friendly, fantastic couple of Airstream ambassadors.

We are here the night before the event starts moving.  I can see over 10 Airstreams from our site but I know there are more and more to come!  It is always fun to see the different trailers and talk to all the other ‘ambassadors’.
